For the year 2011-2012, the demand for diesel is raised as a result of regular power cut.

About 8% of diesel sales surged over the last year 2010-2011. 

In this year mainly Retail and Bulk consumer segments are depended very much on diesel due to this power cut during day and night hours.

Indian top 3 Oil marketing companies IOC, BPCL, HPCL were sold a total of 64.66 million tonnes of diesel for the year 2011-2012. 

During the year 2010-2011, 59.99 million tonnes of diesel was sold by these Indian state owned oil companies.

Bulk consumption of diesel utilised by power generation companies and Indian Railways a leading Indian transport system operated by India Government. 

Overall consumption of diesel by Indian Automobile sector is 53.18 million tonnes.
